Rock in Rio Brasil is the Brazilian edition of the huge music festival, which will takes place across two weekends in September.
Festival Details
Rock in Rio is one of the largest and most iconic music festivals in the world. Originally founded in 1985 by entrepreneur Roberto Medina in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, it has since expanded to cities like Lisbon, Madrid, and Las Vegas.
The Concept: It is famous for its “City of Rock” (Cidade do Rock), a massive venue built specifically for the event, featuring multiple stages, amusement park rides (like zip lines and Ferris wheels), and various entertainment zones.
Musical Diversity: Despite the name “Rock,” the festival covers a wide range of genres including Pop, Heavy Metal, Hip-Hop, Indie, and Electronic. Legendary acts like Queen, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and Beyoncé have headlined over the years.
Global Reach: While it started in Rio de Janeiro, it is held biennially (every two years). Rock in Rio Lisboa (Portugal) is its most successful international edition.
Social Impact: The festival operates under the motto “For a Better World,” investing in social and environmental causes, such as reforestation in the Amazon and supporting education programs.
