Queer communities celebrating art and cultures! A vibrant celebration of queer arts and cultures: Midsumma Festival returns from 17 January to 7 February 2026, bringing Melbourne’s diverse voices to life.
Festival Details
Midsumma Festival is a celebration of LGBTQIA+ arts and cultures held annually for 22 days over January and February in Melbourne, Australia. The festival began as a one-week celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride in 1989. The festival has since expanded to a three-week (four weekend) event that attracts over 240,000 people each year.
Midsumma Festival is Australia’s premier LGBTQIA+ arts and cultural celebration, held annually in Melbourne during the summer. Since 1989, this vibrant festival has been showcasing a diverse program of over 200 events, including spectacular live performances, cabaret, visual arts, and community sports.
The festival is anchored by three iconic pillars: the sun-soaked Midsumma Carnival at Alexandra Gardens, the empowering Pride March through the streets of St Kilda, and the high-energy Victoria’s Pride street party. Beyond the celebrations, Midsumma serves as a vital platform for queer artists and diverse voices, fostering a sense of belonging and cultural expression for the entire community.
Experience the joy, creativity, and inclusive spirit of Melbourne at one of the world’s top pride festivals.
